Rep. Pfluger commends WWII nurse Mary Lou Hand

WASHINGTON, D.C. U.S. Congressman August Pfluger (R-San Angelo) surprised Mary Lou Hand of Wall with an American flag flown over the U.S. Capitol in her honor, a press release detailed.

Hand recently celebrated her 100th birthday.

Hand served the United States during World War II as an Army nurse caring for those who were critically wounded, the press release stated. While serving in England, she met her husband and longtime sweetheart, Bob. Together, they raised six children and are blessed with 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Congressman Pfluger recently spoke on the house floor commending Hand for her service to the country and congratulating her on her 100th birthday.
