ALPINE Sul Ross State University and Universidad Politécnica de Piedras Negras, México (UPPN) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to develop friendly and cooperative relations in the fields of education, professional development and research.
The MOU represents a breakthrough in international collaboration and exchange opportunities between the two institutions.
Parties from both institutions met in Alpine on Friday, March 24, for the signing ceremony.
SRSU and UPPN have agreed to work together to develop and foster a collaborative relationship through different areas of potential mutual interest, including but not restricted to student and staff exchange, credit transfer, joint and collaborative research, internship exchanges, and short-term study abroad programs.
“We are excited to collaborate with Universidad Politécnica de Piedras Negras to develop enriching educational experiences for our students and expand research opportunities,” said Carlos Hernandez, SRSU president. “This partnership will create new avenues for academic growth and foster international cooperation between our institutions.”
UPPN is just eight miles from the SRSU campus in Eagle Pass. There are approximately 500 undergraduate students and three degrees in Environmental Technology Engineering, Robotics Engineering and International Commerce and Customs.
UPPN is one of the few universities in Mexico that provides students with a bilingual education.
