Bynum School student Grant Westmoreland was recently recognized for his winning submission to the Midland Northside Lions Club’s 34th annual Lions International Peace Poster Contest.

Bynum School had 26 entries and the top three were selected by a panel of teachers and administrators.

The winning posters were selected for their originality, artistic merit, and portrayal of the contest theme, Lead with Compassion.

“When I think of compassion, I think of a big hug,” Westmoreland said.

More than 600,000 posters were submitted to the Lions Club International Peace Poster Contest this year.

The poster of the first-place winner will compete in the district contest. An international prize is awarded at the end of the contest.

“We appreciate the Lions Club allowing our students to share their visions of peace,” Bynum School Executive Director Keri St. John said.
