The Odessa Police Academy is underway with 10 recruits. Many police stations across the country do not have their own academy.
The Odessa Police Academy started in 2010 and lasts 29 weeks. Recruits are required to meet the highest standards expected of Texas Peace Officers.
Physical fitness will be an essential component of training, as will defensive tactics and firearms training.
