As part of International Thank You Day, 10-year-old Ryan Rivera wanted to use it as a day to show his appreciation to Odessa Police Department officers.
His mom tells us that he’s been randomly giving out appreciation coins over the last few months to officers around town, and their reaction is always priceless.
She says she can’t tell who has the bigger smile, her son or the unsuspecting officers. She says Ryan loves to spread a little joy to our hometown heroes. He paid a special visit to the police station Jan. 11 with eight coins for police officers and two for the SWAT team.
OPD Chief Mike Gerke also spent some time with the young man and showed him his collection.
