Erica Thomas joins Basin PBS as Director of Development and Donor Engagement

MIDLAND Basin PBS on Monday announced the arrival of Erica Thomas as the new Director of Development and Donor Engagement, starting August 1. Thomas, a proud native of the Permian Basin, has called Midland/Odessa home since graduating from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin.

With a decade-long career as an educator at Midland ISD, Thomas has taken on various leadership roles, including department chair and advisor for both Student Council and the National Junior Honor Society. Her dedication extended beyond the classroom, organizing educational trips to Washington D.C. and New York, which ignited her passion for community engagement and advocacy for education. In addition to her educational endeavors, Thomas has played a pivotal role in the community as the Secretary of the Board for the Midland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Her efforts in organizing fundraising strategies and community-focused events help make an impact. She also served as treasurer of Energize Midland Schools, further demonstrating her commitment to ensuring quality education, a news release said.

Thomas is eager to bring her expertise and passion to Basin PBS, where she will focus on developing innovative fundraising strategies, strengthening relationships with supporters, and engaging and sustaining a strong volunteer network. As a mother of a young daughter who adores PBS characters, especially Daniel Tiger, Thomas deeply appreciates the value of educational and entertaining programming, the release said.

“I am thrilled to join Basin PBS and look forward to building meaningful relationships with our supporters,” Thomas said in the release. “Together, we can create opportunities that enrich lives and inspire a love for learning and community. My goal is to ensure that Basin PBS continues to grow and remains a valuable resource and a beacon of educational and cultural excellence in our region.”

Erica’s arrival marks a new chapter for Basin PBS, and we are confident that her leadership will significantly contribute to the station’s mission of serving the community with quality educational content and initiatives, the release said.
