CORPUS CHRISTI On Friday, August 30, at 10 a.m. sharp, the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery will conduct an Unaccompanied Veteran Burial for U.S. Army and Army Reserve Veteran Staff Sergeant Donald Lee Keeney.
Born on Nov. 29, 1937, Staff Sergeant Keeney served from December 1954 to June 1976. Staff Sergeant Keeney received the National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and the Bronze Star Medal for his service to our country.
Staff Sergeant Keeney is not expected to have any next-of-kin attend his burial. Members of the Corpus Christi community are encouraged to attend.
Staff Sergeant Keeney will receive military honors. If no next-of-kin is present at the burial, a Veterans Land Board Representative will accept the United States flag on his behalf.
