Santa Rita No. 1 lunch and learn

Richard Brantley, senior vice president of operations with University Lands, will provide an overview of the discovery of the historic Santa Rita No. 1 well in Reagan County at a lunch and learn from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. May 9 at the Petroleum Museum.

This was a milestone event that ignited further exploration in the Permian Basin. The Santa Rita No.1 is commonly acknowledged as the “first commercial well in the Permian Basin.”

The fact that the well was discovered on University Lands cannot be overstated due to the tremendous educational opportunities that are now distributed across the state through the efforts of the University of Texas System and the Texas A&M System. Bring your lunch and come celebrate the 100th anniversary of this historic discovery well.
