Rescue Runners to pay tribute to Corrales

The City of Midland Animal Services department will dedicate a special Rescue Runners, which will take place at 8 a.m. on Feb. 3 at Midland Animal Services located at 1200 N. Fairgrounds Road.

The event will pay tribute to Dan Corrales, the at-large city councilman who passed away this week. Corrales served as the City Council Liaison for the Animal Services Advisory Commission.

Rescue Runners is a volunteer program designed to recruit people to help walk or run shelter dogs. The shelter environment can be a stressful place, so getting the dogs out for exercise provides enrichment, and allows for improvement in social skills. The outing allows for dogs to showcase their personality outside of the kennel, helping to promote fostering and adoptions.

Rescue Runners typically take place on the first and third Saturdays of the month.
