The 2023 Permian Basin Fair and Expo is accepting entries for the Miss Permian Basin Fair Scholarship Pageant. The contestants are given the opportunity to build their confidence, develop public speaking, and gain experience by participating in the Miss Permian Basin Fair pageant. The event is a long-standing tradition at the Permian Basin Fair and Expo from September 1-10. The entry deadline is Friday, August 4, at 5:00 p.m.
Miss Permian Basin Fair Scholarship Pageant awards three educational scholarships to eligible young ladies between 17 – 22 years of age. The overall winner receives $2,500, the first runner-up receives $1,500, and the second runner-up receives $1,000. Past Miss Permian Basin winners have successfully continued their educational journeys. Becoming a teacher or a nurse are just a few career paths past contenders have taken.
The winner will have an active role during fair days, and during her reign, she will serve as an ambassador for the Fair and Expo at community events throughout the year. Contestants must be current residents of the Permian Basin, a citizen of the United States, single, and must maintain a “B” average. Contenders will be judged on personality, coordination, poise, and scholastic achievement. As part of the competition, the ladies will learn a dance routine, be interviewed by judges, and participate in the pageant on Saturday, September 2, at the Ector County Coliseum Fairgrounds, Main Stage.
