Midland Festival Ballet announces 2024-25 performing season

Midland Festival Ballet (MFB) on Thursday announced their 2024-25 performing season.

On December 21 and 22, 2024, MFB will perform the beloved holiday classic, “The Nutcracker” at the Wagner Noël Performing Arts Center. Watch Tchaikovsky’s iconic score come to life as Clara Stahlbaum travels through the Lands of Snow and Sweets with her Nutcracker Prince. Featuring renowned professional dancers, 100 local student dancers, and live accompaniment from the West Texas Symphony, this production has been a celebrated community tradition for over 30 years. Be sure to include “The Nutcracker” in your family’s holiday plans.

In March 2025, MFB will perform not just one, but three exciting ballets. They’ll begin with the rattling tambourines and rustling tutus of Nadia Thompson’s “Grand Tarantella.” Next, feel the rhythm and the rhyme with all the animals in Pearl Wamsley’s award winning contemporary ballet, “The Incredible Petes.” Finally, join Prince Ivan as his search for golden apples becomes a much grander adventure in the featured ballet, George Skibine’s “The Firebird.” This classic fairytale has it all: magical creatures, daring battles, an enchanted forest, an imprisoned princess — you don’t want to miss it. Catch this exciting triple bill performance, also accompanied by the West Texas Symphony, at the Wagner Noël Performing Arts Center March 29 and 30, 2025.

In addition to their live performances, MFB also broadcasts past performances, documentaries, and dance films on Basin PBS.
