FORT STOCKTON The Literacy Coalition of the Permian Basin is joining this year’s Barrio Fest, a celebration of the Hispanic community and its rich culture. This four-day extravaganza is hosted by Pecos CHC and the Fort Stockton Community Theater, which guarantees an immersive cultural experience for everyone in attendance.
This event is free and open to the public, offering a wonderful opportunity for individuals and families to immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of Hispanic culture, a news release said.
The Literacy Coalition of the Permian Basin will have a booth at the event Sept. 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Barrio Fest will be held at the Fort Stockton Community Theatre, 102 S Nelson St.
Barrio Fest encompasses diverse activities and attractions that pay homage to Hispanic heritage. Highlights of the event include a lively street dance, an impressive car show, screenings of Spanish language films, captivating presentations, enlightening walking tours, and a Texas Treasure Business Award Ceremony honoring five outstanding local businesses. Additionally, attendees can enjoy engaging activities for children, including a taco-making demonstration.
