LHS to host cook off

The Legacy High School barbecue teams are set to host the Best of the West Smoke Off Saturday at Legacy High School, 3500 Neely Ave.

Winners in each category and overall will qualify to compete at the state competition in May. The best dishes will be determined via closed blind judging. Awards will be given in the auditorium.

Visiting competitors include high school students from Grady, Rankin, Stanton and James Madison (San Antonio).

This National High School BBQ Association event is open to the public. It is presented by LHS FFA.

  • 9 a.m. — Preparation begins
  • 10 a.m. — Light fires
  • 1 p.m. — Dutch oven
  • 2 p.m. — Pork chop
  • 3 p.m. — Skirt steak taco
  • 4 p.m. — Half chicken
  • 5 p.m. — St. Louis ribs
  • 6 p.m. — Awards
