MIDLAND The Petroleum Museum in Midland will host a Brown Bag Lunch and Lecture Series with Tom Chandler titled “Crude Oil Recovery Under Arctic Conditions” from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Aug. 13.
When a natural or man-made disaster occurs and petroleum products are released into the environment, emergency response teams are required to recover the product or products that might affect the environment. What problems and obstacles might these recovery teams need to overcome?
Chandler will discuss some of most difficult and hazardous situations these teams might encounter in the arctic. He will also display specialized clothing needed to protect workers under arctic conditions as he shares some of his personal experiences.
