The Ector County ISD Board of Trustees will have a special board meeting at 6 p.m. Oct. 10 to begin interviews for a new superintendent. The meeting will be held in the first-floor board room of the administration building, 802 N. Sam Houston Ave.

Superintendent Scott Muri announced his retirement in August. The board named Chief of Schools Keeley Boyer as interim superintendent.

Muri is serving as Superintendent Emeritus until Jan. 30, 2025, in an advisory role to support the transition to an interim superintendent and potential new full-time superintendent.

Firms to be interviewed include HYA Corporation, JG Consulting, Texas Association of School Boards and Walsh Gallegos Kyle Robinson & Roalson PC, the agenda said.

There will also be public comment.

Boyer is being paid at an annual salary of $250,000, prorated for the period of time she actually serves as interim superintendent. As Chief of Schools, her annual base salary has been $178,628.57.

Muri is keeping his base salary of $328,801.56 as superintendent emeritus.

Muri said he completed 36 years in education and is in year 37.
