The American Legion Post 430, 2701 East 8th. St. are hosting a ceremony celebrating all Veterans. Veterans Day is dedicated to American Veterans of all wars, and Veterans Day 2023 will occur on Saturday, November 11.
In 1918, on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, an armistice, or temporary cessation of hostilities, was declared between the Allied nations and Germany in World War I, then known as “the Great War.”
The ceremony will be held at the Freedom Flame located at the main entrance into Post 430 and will begin promptly at the 11th hour of the 11th day of November. The guest speaker for this event will be Major Preston A. Parrott U.S. Army Retired.
All Veterans are invited to a steak dinner beginning at 4 p.m. The dinner will be served in the Post Canteen. Steaks will be served until they are all gone. The dinner will be free for the veteran and their guest will be charged $20.
