NUGGETS: His kingdom

By Jannie Linney

“For unto us a Child is born, and to us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end upon the throne of David and over His Kingdom. To order it and establish it with judgment and justice from that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.” [Is. 9:6]

We saw last week that God created man in his image in likeness. We look like Him and we should act like Him after we are born into His Kingdom. The church is the body of Christ. So when the government was laid on His shoulders, it was really entrusted to the Church, the body of Christ. He told us to take dominion and subdue his creation.

The church will be held accountable for not doing the work that Jesus left us here to do, the work Jesus started and left us instruction to carry on. Jesus said, to the 70 after he had sent them out and they had returned with great excitement, “I saw Satan fall like Lighting from heaven. [Lost his Authority] Behold I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.” [Luke 10:19-20]

Jesus gave that portion of the church authority to carry on the work that he had done. If John 3:16 is given to the church, then this is given to the church and in Isaiah it said that of the increase of his government and peace there would be no end carrying it on to us and through us to generations to come.

Then Jesus came and spoke to them saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you and lo I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” [Matt. 28:18-20] To the end of the age. What age? The Church age! Telling us what to do until He returns. From that time Forward and Forever!

We as The Church, of who He is the head, have our instructions. We are going to have to quit hiding in the church pew where it is comfortable and “Go Therefore” He said that the increase of His Government there would be no end.

Do you know Him well enough to tell others what great things He has done for you, or do you just know about Him? Do you have the religion of Christianity, or do you have the relationship with the Christ of Christianity? No matter what you have done in your past, Jesus went to the cross for you. He made Heaven Big enough for you to be included. No sin is too bad for Him to Forgive, no person is too far gone that He can’t restore you to Himself. He wants you in “His Kingdom.” Why not just say this “Jesus, I’m tired of the way my life has been, please forgive me for all the sins I have ever committed, I believe you are the son of God, that you came to earth by way of a virgin, you were crucified, died, was buried, you were raised up out of that grave and you are alive today. Come into my heart, live in me, show me how to live your way! Amen.” If you believe in your heart, then you received and are now in “His Kingdom.”
