Midland College to host Veterans Day celebration honoring legacy of loyalty and service

MIDLAND Midland College, in partnership with Mil2Civ and Permian Warrior Partnership, will host a special Veterans Day celebration Nov. 9. Themed “A Legacy of Loyalty and Service,” the event will feature a 1-mile Fun Run, a 5K walk/run, a traditional veterans ceremony, a cake-cutting, and a resource and job fair for veterans across the Permian Basin.

“Midland College’s Veterans Day Celebration is a meaningful opportunity for the community to come together, show gratitude, and honor the sacrifices made by veterans and their families,” Daniel Ortega, Midland College Director of Veteran Outreach, said in a news release.

“It’s not just about remembering their service, but also about recognizing the dedication, resilience, and commitment that define the spirit of those who have served our country. This event is a time to reflect on their journeys, ensure their stories are heard, and inspire future generations to uphold the values they fought to protect.”

The celebration will feature guest speaker Dr. Jeff Struecker, U.S. Army Ranger Hall of Famer who will share insights from his remarkable career, which included 17 combat deployments across five U.S. conflicts, including the mission famously known as Black Hawk Down.

“Having U.S. Army Ranger Hall of Famer Dr. Jeff Struecker as our guest speaker for this year’s Veterans Day ceremony is truly an honor,” Ortega added. “Dr. Struecker’s extraordinary service and leadership are a testament to the courage and dedication of all our veterans. His insights and experiences will undoubtedly inspire and remind us of the sacrifices made by those who have served our nation.”
