ORMC, Scenic Mountain Medical Center announce transition update

Odessa Regional Medical Center and Scenic Mountain Medical Center announced that subsidiaries of Quorum Health have acquired them. Since September, the companies have managed the hospitals’ day-to-day operations as part of an interim management arrangement.

“This acquisition marks a significant milestone in our journey to stabilize our hospitals,” Stacey Brown, CEO of Odessa Regional and Scenic Mountain, said in a news release. “Our team has worked alongside Quorum Health over the past month to understand the much-needed capital improvements and how to best support us in caring for patients while enhancing quality and patient experience. This marks a new chapter for our communities, positioning us for growth and helping us to provide the care our region needs and deserves. Reaching this milestone is a significant step toward advancing healthcare in West Texas.”

The transaction has grown Quorum’s footprint in West Texas, where it currently operates Big Bend Regional Medical Center in Alpine, and expanded its overall network to 12 affiliated hospitals across the country.

“Odessa Regional and Scenic Mountain share an almost 50-year legacy caring for West Texans – welcoming babies, caring for grandparents, healing broken bones — and we recognize the immense responsibility we have in continuing that legacy,” said Chris Harrison, CEO of Quorum Health. “We’re committed to building and enhancing quality care in Odessa and Big Spring and employing the dedicated caregivers who make it all possible.”

All employees will continue in their current positions with a competitive total rewards package in the coming year. Transition efforts are underway, and patients should experience no disruption in care.
