Vizient, Inc., has recognized Odessa Regional Medical Center as a top performer in the 2024 Bernard A. Birnbaum, MD, annual Quality Leadership Study. Ranked eighth in the complex care medical center cohort, Odessa Regional Medical Center was recognized for demonstrating excellence in delivering high-quality care.

“We are honored to be named by Vizient as a top performer,” Stacey Brown, CEO of Odessa Regional Medical Center, said in a news release. “This national recognition is a testament to the dedication of physicians, nurses, and staff to provide patients high-quality care and safety. I could not be prouder of our entire team for earning this recognition, and I’m excited for what is to come.”

The 2024 Vizient Quality and Accountability Study included 860 participating hospitals segmented into four cohorts. The study assesses hospitals’ performance across six domains of patient care: safety, mortality, effectiveness, efficiency, patient-centeredness, and equity of care. Performance is measured using data from the Vizient Clinical Data Base, feedback from the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey, and data from the CDC’s National Healthcare Safety Network.

“Leading hospitals are leveraging data and analytics to provide superior clinical outcomes,” said David Levine, chief medical officer for Vizient. “This award honors Odessa Regional Medical Center for demonstrating leadership focused on results and a culture of collaboration and adaptability that is necessary to succeed. It is a pleasure to congratulate Odessa Regional Medical Center on their achievement and commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.”

The study gives hospitals and health systems insights into their performance compared to their peers. It also identifies the structures and processes contributing to high-quality, safe patient care across various settings. The recognition reflects performance from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024.
