New record for passengers already set at Midland International Air & Space Port

A new fiscal year record for airline passengers already has been established at Midland International Air & Space Port.

The Airports Department reported 63,704 total passengers flying out of Midland on American Eagle, Delta, Southwest and United in August, increasing the total number of passengers during fiscal year 2024 to 679,622. Even with one month remaining in FY 2024, the total through 11 months is greater than the 12-month total during the previous record year — FY 2023 (661,842), a news release said.

The record year for passengers is also likely a reason for another record set — for net parking revenues. In August, the City of Midland collected $697,928 (an increase of 10.55% compared August 2023) to push the fiscal year 2024 to $7,551,318. The city reported $7,176,233 during the 12 months of FY 2023.

The fiscal year for the City of Midland begins in October and continues through the following September.
