Enjoy some holiday fun at the Bush Family Home’s 1st Pumpkin Walk. Imagine the Bush children decorating jack o’-lanterns for Halloween back in the 1950s and join the fun by decorating your own and entering it in the pumpkin walk.

Individuals, organizations and businesses can bring their own decorated pumpkin between October 24-26. Then, on the evening of October 30, between 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., everyone is invited to see the pumpkins and vote on their favorites. There are prizes for the winners. Pumpkins can be painted or carved.

We hope the pumpkin walk is a fun event for everyone to enjoy decorating jack o’-lanterns and/or viewing them and voting on their favorites, a news release said

The Pumpkin Walk is free for everyone to enter a pumpkin. There are forms available by writing [email protected] or call 432-685-1112. Viewing the pumpkins and voting also is free on October 30.

The Bush Family Home joined the Texas Historical Commission in 2023 and is one of 39 sites in the state of Texas. Its normal operating hours are Tuesday-Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; the last tour begins at 4:15 p.m.
