Cavaliers’ quarterback Chaston Ditta looks to be a main threat after going 21-of-42 for 361 yards passing and three touchdowns last Friday. … Midland Legacy’s brutal nondistrict schedule continues with the Rebels (0-2) showing improvement in last week’s 63-45 loss to Euless Trinity after getting shut out in the season opener against Allen 61-0. The Rebels are 0-2 for the first time since 2008.

>> Notes: Midland High bounced back with last week’s hard-fought win on the road against El Paso Pebble Hills. Elijah McCoy ran for 132 yards and two touchdowns off 19 carries while Stroman Bridges had 13 carries for 116 yards. … Amarillo High finally got to play its season opener after the Sandies’ Week 1 game against OHS was called off due to inclement weather. The Sandies survived a high-scoring contest against San Angelo Central with quarterback Jett Lopez throwing for five touchdowns and going 19-of-34 for 297 yards passing.

Wolfforth Frenship at Wichita Falls Legacy

>> Notes: Wolfforth Frenship’s offense continued to click in last week’s win against Wichita Falls Memorial. Quarterback Holden Phillips had another strong showing, completing 26-of-34 passes for 533 yards despite throwing two interceptions. The Tigers will make another trip to Wichita Falls to face another school playing its first season. … Wichita Falls Legacy had a rough showing at home, losing to Amarillo Tascosa 34-7 last week and still searching for its first win in program history. The Leopards will have another tough task this week.

San Angelo Central at Abilene Cooper

>> Notes: San Angelo Central seems to be getting closer and closer to a victory. The Bobcats’ offense continued to dominate, despite coming up short against Amarillo High last week. San Angelo Central’s defense has another tall task against an Abilene Cooper team that can score. … Abilene Cooper is also looking for its first win of the season after losing to crosstown rivals Abilene High last Friday. Quarterback Austin Cummins threw for 186 yards and three touchdowns against the Eagles.
