As we gather around our Christmas trees in the warm glow of festive lights and prepare to bid farewell to another year, I find myself reflecting on the moments that truly matter. This holiday season calls for a pause, a deep breath, and a heartfelt appreciation for the blessings we’ve received, the lessons we’ve learned, and the love we share with our families and communities.
In these contemplative moments, the beautiful words of Luke 2:10-11 (NIV) resonate in our hearts: “But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David, a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.’”
I stand in gratitude to our Lord for the countless blessings we’ve experienced throughout the year. Despite the challenges we’ve faced, we’ve come together as a state, supporting one another with open hearts and a generosity that knows no bounds. From the oil fields of West Texas to the bustling streets of our vibrant cities, the resilience and tenacity of the Texas spirit has never been more evident.
We hold family dear in the Lone Star State, so in the quiet moments between the wrapping paper and savoring festive meals, let us take the opportunity to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas and the promise of a new year. This season invites us to cherish the bonds that tie us together—those forged by family, friends, and the shared experiences that define us. Let us nurture these bonds and continue to spread love and good will to all.
Our shared values call us to be grateful for the abundance we enjoy and to reach out to our neighbors with kindness and compassion. As we are gathered with our loved ones, let us also be mindful of those less fortunate and extend a hand to those in need. Just as the wise men brought gifts to the baby Jesus, we too can share our blessings with others and embody the true spirit of Christmas.
And as we welcome the new year, may we carry the lessons of the past with us and embrace the opportunities that lie ahead. Let us enter the New Year with hearts full of gratitude, minds filled with cherished memories, and a commitment to making Texas an even better place for generations to come.
Wishing you and your loved ones a Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year. May the spirit of Texas continue to shine brightly in your hearts.
God bless Texas!
