Man accused of robbing two stores

A Facebook post and an anonymous tipster led to the Tuesday afternoon arrest of an Odessa man on two separate robbery charges.

According to an Odessa Police Department report, Amador Rios Rodriguez is accused of walking into convenience stores on Sept. 26 and Oct. 2, jumping onto the counter and fighting with the clerks over the money in the cash register.

Police allege that in the Sept. 26 robbery of a LaMa store on North West County Road, Rodriguez got away with $155 and in the Oct. 2 robbery of a LaMa store on North Dixie Boulevard he got away with $123.

Detectives posted about both robberies on Facebook and an anonymous caller identified Rodriguez as the culprit, the report stated. Detectives compared the man seen on video surveillance with past jail booking photos of Rodriguez and determined they were one and the same.

Rodriquez was booked into the Ector County jail on suspicion of two counts of robbery. He remained in custody Wednesday night on surety bonds totaling $60,000.
