Neighbor dispute lands one at hospital, another in jail

An Odessa woman was arrested Monday night after a ring doorbell camera captured her hitting another woman with a car.

According to an Odessa Police Department report, dispatchers received a 911 call around 7:30 p.m. from someone stating someone had tried to hit another person with a car in the 1100 block of Fitch Avenue.

When officers arrived, Desiree Nicole Escobedo, 28, told them she’d been having problems with her 32-year-old neighbor and when she was trying to park her car the woman jumped in front of her.

However, officers were provided camera footage that showed Escobedo striking the woman with her car without making any attempt to stop, the report stated.

The footage also showed the two women trading punches and a 25-year-old man being placed in a headlock by Angel Rodela, 49, when he tried to break up the fight, the report stated.

The alleged victim was taken to the hospital with scratches on her forehead, according to the report.

Escobedo was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony punishable by two to 20 years in prison. Rodela was arrested on suspicion of assault causing bodily injury, a misdemeanor.

Escobedo was released from the Ector County jail after posting a $25,000 surety bond. Rodela posted a $5,000 surety bond and was released as well.
