Big Spring teen killed in crash

A 17-year-old Big Spring resident was killed and two other Big Spring teenagers injured Saturday night in a one-vehicle roll-over.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, an 18-year-old Big Spring resident was traveling east on Interstate 20 in a GMC 1500 pickup truck when he took the 181A exit ramp in Big Spring at an unsafe speed shortly after 10 p.m.. The pickup veered off the roadway, went into a skid and rolled.

The front passenger, whose name was not released, was thrown from the vehicle and died at Scenic Mountain Medical Center, according to DPS. A second passenger, 18, was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

The driver was treated at the hospital and released.

It’s unknown if any of the teens were wearing seat belts.
