A Midland man and a Big Spring man lost their lives earlier this week in separate wrecks.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Kenneth Shawn Bohlscheid, 61, of Midland was speeding west on Business Interstate 20 around 3:40 p.m. Wednesday when he failed to negotiate a curve near milemarker 144. His GMC Sierra traveled off the roadway to the right, he over-corrected to the left and his vehicle went into a sideways skid and rolled.
Bohlscheid, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from the vehicle and killed.
On Thursday around 1:30 p.m., Terry Jack Smith, 66, of Big Spring, was traveling west on State Highway 158 roughly 16 miles southeast of Midland when the left front tire on his Mack truck blew, causing it to veer across the eastbound lanes, go off the roadway and roll, according to DPS.
Smith also wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, DPS reported.
