Photos from the opening musical to the Black Cultural Council of Odessa’s Juneteenth Gospel Celebration Wednesday evening at First Baptists Church of Odessa. The celebration featured a combined choir from the BCCO’s Mass Choir and FBC’s Choir in addition to a performance by Fred Hammond. The event marks the kickoff for half a week of Juneteenth celebrations that feature the Dallas Black Dance Theater on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Odessa High School Performing Arts Center, Music in the Park on Friday starting at 6p.m., the Juneteenth Parade on Saturday starting at 6 p.m. on South Dixie Boulevard and a Gospel Celebration from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Bethlehem Baptist Church.
