Odessa man dies in fatal collision

An Odessa Police Department press release detailed a 32-year-old Odessan died after he was involved in a two-vehicle head-on collision.

The reported fatal collision happened at 10:30 p.m. April 2 in the 6800 block of Faudree Road.

Police say the investigation showed a Chevrolet Silverado, operated by 32-year-old Richard Trevino of Odessa, was passing in a no passing zone while traveling northbound on Faudree Road, the press release stated.

A Ram 2500, operated by 45-year-old Christopher Flores of Odessa, was traveling southbound on Faudree Road. The Ram and the Chevrolet collided head on in the southbound lanes of Faudree Road.

Trevino was transported to Medical Center Hospital, where he died. Next of kin has been notified.

Flores, and a passenger, identified as 37-year-old Mayra Mendoza of Odessa, were transported to Medical Center Hospital and are in stable condition, the press release stated.

The investigation continues.
